Keep support stops proportional
Middlebury and LaGrange are best as short, specific pauses. Add a larger Shipshewana or Amish-country detour only when several extra hours are available.
Driving considerations
The city centers and attractions do not all sit directly on the Route 20 bypasses. Repeatedly leaving and rejoining the corridor adds more time than the map suggests. Rural traffic becomes slower east of Middlebury, where buggies and local farm traffic require patience and generous passing distance.
Continue east or stop
LaGrange is a decision point. Continue to Angola for downtown, lake-country services, Pokagon State Park, or an overnight. Stop at LaGrange only when the courthouse square or a practical reset is enough for the day.
