Framingham and Weston Route 20 Weekend

Two-day MetroWest itinerary built around either Sudbury heritage or one Framingham destination, followed by a selective Wayland and Weston day.

Framingham and Weston Route 20 Weekend

Use this weekend to choose between a heritage-first Route 20 trip and a route-adjacent Framingham destination day. Do not attempt Garden in the Woods, Callahan State Park, the Wayside Inn district, several Wayland trails, and a long Weston walk in one weekend.

Day one: choose the main western experience

Heritage day

• Use Marlborough as the western handoff.
• Make Sudbury and the Wayside Inn district the principal stop.
• Choose grounds and a walk, a planned meal, or an overnight-oriented visit.
• Use Framingham as the practical route-adjacent overnight.

Framingham destination day

• Choose Garden in the Woods, Callahan State Park, or a scheduled Framingham History Center visit.
• Do not attempt all three.
• Use Framingham or another practical MetroWest base for the night.

Day two: Wayland and Weston

• Choose either Wayland local history or one conservation trail.
• Continue through Weston and the Boston Post Road Historic District.
• Add Case Estates only when it is the day’s principal walk.
• Finish toward Waltham for food, lodging, or the next corridor.

One-day version

Choose one of these compact plans:

• Sudbury plus Weston, with Wayland brief.
• One Framingham attraction plus Weston.
• One substantial Wayland or Weston walk with the other towns used only for meals and orientation.

Timing and reservations

Check botanical-garden operating dates, Wayside Inn dining or lodging reservations, museum hours, beach rules, trail access, weather, and parking before departure.
