Chester and Jacob’s Ladder Route 20 Weekend

This two-day plan gives Chester the principal heritage block and uses Huntington for one selective Westfield River activity. Becket remains the western handoff rather than another required full-day stop.

Day 1: Chester heritage

• Begin from Becket and continue to Chester.
• Choose the railway station and village history, or make the Keystone Arch Bridges hike the day’s principal activity.
• Do not pair a long arches hike with several other major Berkshire attractions.
• Choose lodging in Lee, the western Berkshires, or Westfield according to travel direction and availability; Chester itself should not be assumed to have city-scale lodging depth.

Day 2: Choose one Huntington outdoor stop

• Continue east to Huntington.
• Choose Littleville Lake or Knightville Dam, not both as rushed additions.
• Match fishing, paddling, hiking, riding, or picnicking to posted rules, access, weather, water conditions, and daylight.
• Finish toward Russell and Westfield when enough time remains.

Heritage-focused alternative

Use the first day for Chester’s station, village, and local industrial history. Keep the second day lighter with a scenic Huntington pause and an earlier finish in Westfield.

One-day version

Choose one compact plan:

• Chester village and railway history.
• A Keystone Arches hike.
• One Huntington river or dam activity plus a brief Chester stop.

Do not attempt a long arches hike, Littleville Lake, Knightville Dam, and a full Westfield city block in one day.
