Brimfield changes character with the antiques calendar. During show weeks it can consume most of a day; outside those periods it is a quiet rural pause between Palmer and Sturbridge.

Is the antiques show running?

The Brimfield Antique Flea Market is not a continuous market. The official 2026 calendar lists six-day shows on May 12-17, July 14-19, and September 8-13. Verify the dates for your travel year, along with individual field schedules, admission policies, parking, and weather conditions.

During a show week

• Treat Brimfield as the day’s principal destination.
• Expect heavier Route 20 traffic and extra time for parking and walking.
• Carry weather protection, water, and a plan for purchases.
• Use Palmer or Sturbridge for lodging according to direction and availability.
• Do not plan a full market day and a substantial Sturbridge attraction on the same schedule.

Outside a show week

Use Brimfield for a short town-center orientation, food stop, rural scenery, or practical pause. Continue to Sturbridge when the antiques fields are inactive and the trip needs a year-round destination.

How much time to allow

• 15-40 minutes: non-show pause, meal, or route reset.
• Two to four hours: selective market visit.
• Most of a day: serious antiques shopping.
• Overnight nearby: early arrival, multiple show days, or a slower event schedule.

What it pairs with

• West: Palmer for railroad history, food, and interchange logistics.
• East: Sturbridge for living history, outdoor recreation, lodging, and the strongest year-round base.
