Old Sturbridge Village

Old Sturbridge Village is a large ticketed living-history museum with historic buildings, working mills, farms, exhibits, and costumed interpretation. Treat it as a half-day or longer visit. Check the operating calendar, admission, and special-event access before arrival.

Wells State Park

Wells State Park covers about 1,400 acres and offers roughly 12 miles of trails, Walker Pond, boating, fishing, camping, and seasonal facilities. Choose it as a planned outdoor block rather than a quick roadside stop. Check current park advisories, trail work, parking charges, and campground availability.

Town, food, and lodging

Sturbridge also works for a town-center pause, meal, inn or hotel stay, and practical services. It is the default nearby base during Brimfield show periods and a useful overnight before continuing toward Auburn and Worcester.

How much time to allow

• 30-90 minutes: meal, town center, or practical reset.
• Half day: Old Sturbridge Village or Wells State Park.
• Full day: one major attraction plus town time.
• Overnight: slower heritage visit, outdoor activity, or Brimfield event.
