Road trip plan
Sturbridge to Worcester Route 20 Weekend
Two-day Central Massachusetts itinerary pairing one Sturbridge attraction with Auburn rocketry history or one Worcester city attraction.
Sturbridge to Worcester Route 20 Weekend
This two-day plan uses Sturbridge for the western heritage or outdoor block and Worcester for the principal city attraction. Auburn remains a short, purposeful stop unless Robert Goddard history is central to the trip.
Day 1: Choose the Sturbridge plan
Choose one:
- Old Sturbridge Village for living history.
- Wells State Park for a planned outdoor block.
Use Sturbridge for the western base. Keep the day focused rather than adding a full Brimfield market or Worcester museum visit.
Day 2: Auburn and Worcester
Use Auburn, Massachusetts briefly for services or Goddard Park, then choose one Worcester lane:
- Worcester Art Museum.
- EcoTarium.
- Downtown culture, food, and an event.
Use Worcester as the default eastern overnight when continuing into MetroWest.
Science-history alternative
- Begin with the Auburn Goddard commemoration.
- Choose EcoTarium or Worcester Art Museum as the principal city attraction.
- Skip the full Sturbridge attraction block.
- Respect active golf-course boundaries near the historic launch-site marker.
One-day version
Choose one substantial Sturbridge attraction plus a brief Auburn stop, or Auburn plus one Worcester attraction. Do not compress a half-day Sturbridge visit and a full Worcester museum block into the same short day.
